KATHY BATES HEALTH: ACTRESS ‘WENT BERSERK’ AFTER DIAGNOSIS OF ‘INCURABLE’ CONDITION

In a frank conversation with Dr. Phil, Kathy Bates, the renowned Academy Award-winning actress, courageously discussed her ongoing struggle with what seems to be an “incurable” condition, marking her second fight with cancer after overcoming ovarian cancer triumphantly.

Known for her strength and talent on screen, Bates disclosed, “While it’s widely known that I defeated ovarian cancer, with nine years behind me, few know that I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.” Her candidness vividly portrayed the emotional turmoil she experienced, jesting, “If you think American Horror Story is scary, you should’ve been there with me in that room.”

Despite her past challenges, Bates chose to face her suffering alone, opting for surgeries and chemotherapy without confiding in anyone. Reflecting on this decision, she said, “I wanted to keep it private, but it truly took a toll on me emotionally and physically.”

Although currently in remission, Bates continues to deal with the lingering effects of her medical journey, grappling with lymphedema, a persistent condition affecting about 30 percent of breast cancer survivors, resulting from the removal of lymph nodes.

Through her candid revelations, Bates not only sheds light on the harsh realities of battling cancer but also serves as a symbol of resilience and hope for countless others facing similar challenges.
