Celine Dion Fights Back Tears as She Updates Fans on Stiff Person Syndrome Battle – ‘If I Can’t Talk, I’ll Crawl’

In her forthcoming documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion,” the legendary singer can be seen holding back tears as she shares the heartbreaking impact of her Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) diagnosis. According to Radar Online, Dion candidly spoke about the pain caused by her illness, expressing that she misses performing for her dedicated fans the most.

Since her health issues became public, Dion has largely stayed out of the spotlight, raising serious concerns about whether she will ever fully recover to perform again. A few rare appearances earlier this year, including one at the 2024 Grammys to present an award, briefly lifted spirits, but it appears she is no closer to returning to the stage.

Dion had to cancel all her world tour dates for 2023 and 2024, highlighting the severity of her SPS diagnosis. In a newly released trailer for her documentary, Dion is seen near tears as she discusses coping with a life where she can no longer perform as she has for decades.

“I am working hard every day, but I have to admit, it’s been a struggle. I miss it so much. The people. I miss them,” she shared.

Despite these challenges, the 56-year-old remains steadfast in her determination to return to the stage, no matter the cost. In a powerful declaration, the five-time Grammy winner vowed, “I won’t stop. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. And I won’t stop. I won’t stop.”

Reflecting on her life, she added, “I’ve seen my life, and I love every piece of it. It’s not hard to do a show, you know, but it’s hard to cancel a show.”

Earlier this year, on March 15, Dion provided an update in recognition of SPS Awareness Day. In her social media post, she wrote:

“Today the world recognizes International SPS Awareness Day. As many of you know, in the fall of 2022, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and live as normal a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team, and all of you!

I want to send my encouragement and support to all those around the world who have been affected by SPS. I want you to know you can do it! We can do it!”

Celine Dion’s bravery and resilience continue to inspire her fans and raise awareness about Stiff Person Syndrome, showing that her spirit remains unbroken despite the immense challenges she faces.
