Beloved Actor from Once Upon a Time and Hallmark Films Sidly Peses Away

Canadian actor Chris Gauthier gained widespread recognition for his exceptional performances across various films and TV series, including “Watchmen,” “Freddy vs. Jason,” “Eureka,” and “Once Upon a Time.” His versatile talent also shone in Hallmark movies such as “Ms. Christmas Comes to Town,” “Three Wise Men and a Baby,” and “The Christmas Promise.” According to the esteemed entertainment database, IMDB, Gauthier amassed an impressive career with over 100 TV shows and movies to his credit.

Tragically, TriStar Appearances/Event Horizon Talent, Gauthier’s management company, released a statement to TVLine confirming the devastating news of his passing. The statement reads, “With heavy hearts, we confirm the passing of our dear friend and client, Chris Gauthier, on Friday morning, February 23, at the age of 48.”

Continuing, the statement expresses, “As a beloved character actor based in Vancouver, Chris touched the hearts of many with his exceptional talent on both the small and big screens. His loss is deeply felt not only by his fans but also by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him personally. We kindly request privacy for his family during this difficult time as they mourn his passing.”

Gauthier notably portrayed the character of Smee in “Once Upon a Time,” alongside Colin O’Donoghue in the role of Captain Hook. In a heartfelt Instagram post, O’Donoghue shared a photo of the two of them and wrote, “You will be deeply missed, my brother! You were the true captain!!”

According to PEOPLE, Gauthier is survived by his wife, Erin, and their two sons, Ben and Sebastian. His absence will be keenly felt by his loved ones and the entertainment industry as a whole.
